The Board of Railroad Commissioners had supervisory and increasing regulatory powers over railroads, street railways, and their companies, and from 1906 it had supervision over express carriers and steamship companies. The board deliberated, held hearings, and issued determinations on petitions brought by railroad companies and other interested parties. Minutes record these activities. Information includes date of meeting, board members present, docket nos., interested parties appearing, account of proceedings, and actions taken. Topics include train fares; train schedules; location, establishment, and extension of tracks and facilities; laying down streets across railroad beds; issuing of stocks and bonds; quality of service; violation of laws; and inspection of completed construction work authorized by the board.
